Metalloprotein Gallery

These webpages contain interactive Jsmol pictures of selected molecules and metalloproteins referred to in bioinorganic chemistry lecture course (and a few extras). If you have problems viewing any of them please contact me at Prof. Vickie McKee so I can try to fix it. Note that some of the larger proteins take a few seconds to load - be a little patient.

Below are some basic instructions for manipulating the structures:

left click in the box to rotate the model around the x or y axes
rotate the scroll wheel (or press & hold [shift] & right button) to zoom
right click in the box to see further display options
reload or click on any of the grey buttons in the text to restore that original view
doubleclick on an atom, then doubleclick another atom to get a distance.
doubleclick on an atom, click on a second, and doubleclick on a third to get an angle

See also a cheatsheet for some basic Jsmol functions and the command reference pages if you want to generate your own figures etc. All the protein data are taken from the PDB (the Protein Data Bank) and are freely accessible.
